I’ve made a rainforest collage and now I’m creating a layered illustration using Vector Paint. Can you see which flowers I duplicated, and the leaves and vines I rotated? Next I am going to draw my toucan, like this one which somebody in Year 3 did last year. Hope you all like it!

This our explanation text for Talk 4 Writing:
Why is a wizard’s wand unique?
Wands come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Nevertheless, each one is ultimately unique. They are magical devices that can cast magnificent spells with a flick of the wrist and a whoosh of mystical power! Indeed, have you ever wondered how a wizard’s wand is made? Well, it’s an enormous and challenging task … read on to find out more…
It all starts with the wand-wood. Wands are made from many different woods; each wood has a special meaning. Wand-wood is collected from a variety of trees that grow in ancient, enchanted forests all around the world.
After the wood has been harvested, it is sent by magical courier to a wandmaker. At first, the wandmaker decides on the length of the finished wand and starts to carve it. It is at this point, that the wand really starts to take shape. This allows each wand to suit (choose) an individual wizard.
Once the carcass of the wand has been crafted, the wandmaker chooses which magical core to put in each wand. The magical core reacts differently with each type of wood; as a result, each completed wand will behave in a slightly different way. Consequently, each wand has its very own personality and chooses its wizard with caution!
So, how does the wand choose the wizard? When a wizard first holds a wand a psychic link is created, the wand will react in many different ways; only a talented wandmaker can recognise the most ideal reaction.
Therefore, wizard and wand will form an exceptional bond.
